• Before blepharoplasty avoid your skin exposing excess sunlight before one or two week and after two or three months after surgery.
• Stop taking painkillers like ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, others), aspirin and other no steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), as well as herbal supplements associated with increased bleeding.
• Plan to have someone stay with you for the first night after surgery.

Oral medications will help with pain and discomfort. Stitches are removed about a week after surgery. Pain is usually minimal. You may be given mild pain reliever, such as acetaminophen.
